Gold of Africa

It’s a real pleasure to visit a small, well laid-out museum. Everything in the Gold of Africa Museum has been carefully considered: the painstaking restoration of the building, the displays hovering over black sand and a fascinating collection of very shiny things. There were dozens of gold animals, but the one that appeared most often was the mudfish—a symbol of responsibility.

K and I loved these beautifully shaped earrings from Ghana; there were several enormous pairs, bigger than three fists.
