White winters that melt into springs

tedmcgrathsnow

I want winter: frozen fingertips, squeaky snow underfoot, tongues stuck to metal, silent city streets, and a hot chocolate here. At a café, someone once showed me the Vietnamese sign language for ‘Canadian’—a hand motion in front of the mouth, to show a puff of frozen breath.

Listening to: White winter hymnal.

1. Snow bunny, by Beverley Rockett from Elle Canada, 1968 2. Illustration by Ted Mcgrath 3. And winter favourites—one, two, three.
